Research Associate, Viral Vector Development and Production

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative candidate for the role of Research Associate, Vector Development and Production. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact as a scientifically motivated self-starter capable of independently conceiving, conducting, and critically analyzing his/her own work with minimal supervision.  

 Day to Day Accountabilities and Opportunities

  • Develop methodology for screening and producing viral vectors.
  • Analytical methods will include viral titration plaque forming assays, cell based assays, qPCR and western blot analysis.
  • Provide support for upstream and downstream process development, master cell bank development, viral stock generation, qualification and technology transfer.
  • Work closely with CMC group and R&D to streamline internal product development.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency needed to meet critical corporate objectives, within vector development and production.
  • Generate and manage method protocols, data and reports.

Previous Experience

  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Virology or closely related field is required.
  • At least 2 years of post-degree research experience is required.  Industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Biotech experience is strongly preferred (cell and gene therapy, virology or biologics preferred).
  • Mammalian cell culture, serologic technique, experience with viruses is required.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment is a plus.
  • Experience working in an analytical science, quality control or R&D setting.
  • Relevant experience working with biomacromolecules (viruses, VLPs, RNA, DNA, proteins, mAbs).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with multiple analytical methods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team from a variety of scientific backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, good working knowledge of MS office, data plotting and graphing software.  Must be able to communicate results effectively.
  • Displays a high degree of maturity, honesty, trust and integrity.
